Getting Active and Fueling your Lifestyle

We hear it everywhere – the word “healthy.” We know it’s better to be healthy, but what can we do to achieve our own health goals? The first step is to identify your goals and then adopt steps that will help you achieve them. The habits that work for you may look different from those around you, but it can also be fun to collaborate on the habits that you and friends share. For example, maybe you both use the same fitness app. Use it to hold each other accountable!

Here are a few habits that may work for you:

Plan ahead. Write it in your schedule. Refuse to let other tasks or commitments interfere with your workout plan.

• Get plenty of sleep the night before. Lack of sleep will torpedo a good workout, plus it hampers your efforts to lose weight.

• Drink water throughout the day. Proper hydration is critical to helping your body sweat and cool during physical activity.

• Prepare your brain muscle! Prepare mentally before you show up. Go into your workout with a positive attitude.

• Ditch the all or nothing attitude. Even a small or shorter workout is beneficial. Engaging in some physical activity helps your muscle memory kick in and recognize your efforts at body wellness.

• Invite a friend. Studies have shown that working out with a companion will increase the likelihood you will stick with an exercise plan.

• Consider using an app. Fitness apps or other activity tracking devices can help measure your distance, track steps or monitor your heart rate. They’re fun and can help keep you motivated.

Protein: Essential for a healthy life

Protein is part of every tissue in your body and plays a special role in keeping you alive and healthy. Your heart, brain, skin, hair, all internal organs, and muscles contain protein. Your immune system needs it to produce disease fighting antibodies, too. Protein also helps “rev-up” your metabolism to promote a healthy weight. It does not turn on “calorie storage” hormones like carbohydrates do. In fact, almost all weight management programs have protein intake as a key component!

The question is, “which protein?” There are several food sources of protein — including milk, egg, animal and plant. However, getting enough protein from our diets can be difficult, high in calories and expensive. That’s where protein supplementation can help. I have created 3 options high in natural protein. Look at the chart towards the end of the blog and find the protein that fits you and your lifestyle.

Nourish your body in 2025. You can do it!

6 Great Reasons to Take More Protein

1. Appetite and Hunger Levels*  A high-protein diet can help curb hunger, helping you eat fewer calories. This is a result of protein’s ability to support weight-regulating hormones.*

2. Muscle Mass & Strength*  High protein intake supports muscle mass and strength while helping drop weight.*

3. Good for Your Bones*  People who eat more protein tend to have better bone health and a much lower risk of bone loss or fractures as they get older.*

4. Cut Back on Late-Night Snacking*  Eating more protein may help lessen cravings for late-night snacking. Merely having a high-protein smoothie can powerfully impact your whole day – and evening.

5. Metabolism & Fat Burning Ability*  High protein intake can fuel metabolism significantly, helping you burn more calories throughout the day.*

6. Blood Pressure Health*  Research studies have demonstrated that higher protein intake can support blood pressure health.* Some studies also have shown improvements in other heart related risk factors.*
