Our Responsibilty at Eniva

At Eniva, we recognize our responsibilty to share real nutrition information with the world. We also have a duty to give back and share our quality products with our community. This November, we are raising awareness around hunger and nutrition while taking action. We have the power to influence the future of food and make a difference in our community. In this blog, we will discuss the benefits of different food groups and the nutrients that are unique to each one. Understanding benefits helps us create healthy habits and promote health in an organic way. We are fortunate to be connected with our surrounding communities and have a robust philantropy built on what we see around us. Get-To-Giving

Eniva proudly manufactures all products in the USA. Our facility is in Plymouth, MN. In addition to our manufacturing facility, we also have our corporate offices and an Eniva Wellness Store where customers can shop, ask about health topics and purchase products.

From November 15th through December, we will be collecting non-perishable food items in our Wellness Store. For every food item we receive, we will donate an additional 1 oz Eniva packet.

• Outside the Minneapolis metro? You can still help! Because our customer base is so widespread, we invite all customers to join us now through December and donate by ADDING A ONE OUNCE PACKET to your next order. Simply, add a Donation Packet to your cart at Eniva.com, and know you are doing your part! For every packet donated, we will match your generosity.

• All food items and packets will be delivered to a food shelf in the local community of Plymouth, MN.

• Don’t forget to donate to your local food shelf during this fall season of giving. Together, we can make a difference and help others.

Evaluate your Diet

We hear the words “balanced diet” all over. The main reason for this is because it is best to have a diet that contains an array of different foods with varying nutrition benefits, generally speaking. If you have an allergy, this will need to modified. However, ‘diet culture’ has forced us to think certain foods are bad for us when the truth is a diet that focuses too much on a good thing or restricts too much can be the enemy. Dairy is good example of this. In recent years, milk sales have drastically decreased because people are switching to milk alternatives. Not to say milk alternatives are not great, but if you are going to also eat multiple slices of pizza and feel just fine, dairy may not be your enemy. That is why it is important to note your allergies and then create a non-restrictive, intuitive plan. You will feel happier, too!

Breaking it down further

Fruits and vegetables are the easy go-to when you think of healthy food. They contain generous amounts of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. In their raw form, they are unprocessed, too. Instead of glorifying what we already know, let’s dive into some of the food categories that are often criticized.

Carbohydrates: AKA Energy! Carbohydrates provide the body with glucose and that glucose converts to energy that supports our active lifestyle. Try to stick to complex carbs like sweet potatoes, quinoa, beans and whole grains because they pack more nutrients and keep us fuller longer.

Dairy: Since day one, we are told that dairy supports strong bones. As we age, bones become more frail. Although bone development may not be as rapid, we should not stop supporting them. Calcium, Vitamin D, Potassium, Protein are all essential for overall body wellbeing.

Nuts and Seeds: Although they are often thought of being the enemy because of their high fat content, nuts and seeds are high in protein and can support a healthy weight. They also have anti-inflammatory properties and contain beneficial fiber that is basically used as food for good gut bacteria.

Sweets: The main thing to remember here is that balance is key. Think about your serving size rather than restricting them as a whole. Satisfying cravings is important, too. Sweets can boost mood and also act as an instant energy source. Always see if you can make your own treats or limit processed ingredients where you can. Think of simple swaps that can add some extra nutritional value where you can. An example is swapping milk chocolate for dark chocolate to get more antioxidants.
Fast Food: Many of the same rules that apply to sweets can be said for fast food, too. Typically, fast foods tend to be high in carbs, sodium and processed ingredients, right? Well, there are more healthy choices at fast food restaurants than ever before. Skip processed dressings and sauces when you can and look for items high in protein. Finally, choose to be inspired by fast food restaurants and create a healthy version in your home.
